#2 - Model - Frequently show students literature that contains high quality writing. Ask students to point out which words are interesting and why.

#3 - Include lessons that focus of descriptive writing skills throughout the year. I love using photographs or drawings with lots of details. Have students list not just what can be seen in the photos/drawings but add descriptive adjectives as well.
