You\u2019ve probably seen it: sentence after sentence with no clear connection.<\/p><p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Sometimes student paragraphs read like GPS directions with half the turns missing. That\u2019s where transition words come in. <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Think of transitions as the glue that holds ideas together or the bridges that keep readers from falling into choppy-sentence ravines. They help sentences flow, ideas connect, and readers <\/span><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">stay awake<\/span><\/em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.<\/span><\/p><h2>Why Teach Transitions?<\/h2><p>Whether it\u2019s cause and effect, comparisons, or sequence, transition words give writing that \u201cahh, now I get it\u201d feeling. Plus, the Common Core agrees.
