I’m excited to announce my free Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland Book Unit. Each Monday over the next 14 weeks, the unit will be featured in weekly blog posts. Saving each lesson for a novel study is a great option. Since students are so familiar with this well-loved classic, most chapters can be stand-alone lessons.
Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland Book Unit The Plan
Each Monday a new blog post will provide teaching materials. The first post contains a staggered flip organizer. The organizer works well for summarizing the chapters. The organizer may also be used to teach other skills. Character traits, figurative language, or vocabulary work well with this organizer.
The second post in the series includes nine grammar exercises. The nine printables use both sentences from and about the story. These exercises cover all eight parts of speech.
Beginning on week three, each post covers one chapter. Printables for the chapters include comprehension and writing exercises. A one-page printable consisting of multiple choice and short answers provides practice with comprehension. Each post also includes a constructive response question with a graphic organizer for planning a writing response.
These handouts work well for classroom instruction or homework.
The Beginning
Begin by downloading this FREE resource from Teachers Pay Teachers. This packet contains the materials you will need to turn the weekly blog posts into a full book unit.
It includes all vocabulary materials. A vocabulary list with words, definitions, and sample sentences from the text help cover the words. Students will enjoy the vocabulary bookmarks. A vocabulary booklet provides daily practice. A multiple-choice vocabulary test winds up the vocabulary portion of the unit. Lesson Plans at a Glance page provides an overview of daily assignments.
