Gift of Reading Blog Hop

Gift of Reading Blog Hop

Welcome to the Gift of Reading Blog Hop.

My “freebie” for this blog hop contains three sample activities from my upcoming product Figurative Language.

 Figurative Language

The first activity is a foldable graphic organizer explaining similes, metaphors, and personification.

Figurative Language Organizers

For the second activity, students select an idiom about feet such as

  • get under someone’s feet
  • feet of clay
  • find your feet
  • get cold feet
  • have itchy feet
  • keep both feet on the ground
  • and so on

and create a picture by writing the idiom and its meaning on one foot. Students then draw a literal illustration on the second foot. Patterns are provided for both a girl and a boy. This makes a really cute bulletin board.

Foot Idiom

The third activity is a Memory Game in which students match well-known similes.

I hope your students will have fun with these activities!

Download these free activities at Teachers Pay Teachers.

I am also giving away 5 copies of the full version of Figurative Language. Enter the raffle for a chance to win.
